Marian Mass 2012

Please, join us this Wednesday, September 12th for the
Marian Mass & Procession
outside on the grounds of the Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat Center to honor Our Blessed Mother
6:00 Fatima play by S.T.A.G.E.
7:00 Mass with the Bishop
8:00 Candelight procession & Rosary with each decade prayed in a different language

This is a beautiful celebration with priests, sisters, 4th degree Knights of Columbus, & lots of other people from all over the Diocese of Lincoln to celebrate Our Lady as they do in Fatima, Portugal. It truly is something amazing to experience!

You are encouraged to bring your family & enjoy it together. If you are in need of a ride or if your parents are able to give rides to others as well, please talk to your GodParents. We'd be glad to help all of you be a part of such a unique experience!

JUNIORS:  This will be our meeting for this week!  Please, meet at Furaseks to carpool out together.  We will leave by 6:35!  In case it is chilly again like last year, please wear jeans & bring a jacket & a Rosary.  We will miss most of the play, but should be there in time for the rest.  Plan to sit together & return around 9:00.  If your family is planning on going & has room for a couple of more, please meet here as well!  We would appreciate a few more parents to drive.  Thank you!

The countdown is going & we're just a few short weeks away from the start of the 2012-2013 GodTeens year!  Please, stop by our table in the back of Church after Masses during our

SIGN-UP WEEKENDS

August 18/19 &

August 25/26

All St. John's parishioners in grades 9-12 at any school are welcome to join.  If you have been a member in the past, please come & sign up again!  Bring a new friend or sibling to be a part of the fun as well.

  We will have registration forms that you can fill out right there, so you don't have to remember to bring them back.  ;)  Remember that the form requires a signature from yourself & from your parents.  You can also pay your registration fee of $25 at that time as well with a check payable to St. John's GodParent Program.  T-shirts for incoming Freshmen & new upper-classmen will be available for pick-up at a later date.

Marian Mass

The Marian Mass was a beautiful celebration at the foot of the bell tower at the Marian Center in Waverly. Above is the end of the play by S.T.A.G.E. about Our Lady of Fatima.

Here they come! Knights of Columbus, sisters, priests,

honor guard, & of course the Bishop all processed through the large crowd.

At the end of the Mass we each lit a candle & prayed the Rosary together. One decade each was led in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, German, & Czech. The candelight procession covered the grounds of the Marian Center. We also sang a special Ave Maria that they sing in Fatima & received a final blessing from our good Bishop. It was an experience to remember! If you couldn't join us this year, we hope you can next!

After two Sundays of sign-ups, we had a pretty good list of new GodTeens for the year. We're glad so many of you could join us for our opening Mass. Thank you to everyone who helped in a special way: reading, offertory, serving, & singing! We hope you enjoyed the games & tasty ice cream sundaes.If you didn't get a chance to turn in your registration form & fee, please do so ASAP. Thanks.Let's join our prayers for another great year!

A New Year

Welcome back, GodTeens!
We hope you had a relaxing, fun, & rejuvenating summer. We can't wait to see you all again! Look for us the next couple of weeks after Masses to sign-up new Freshmen & other new GodTeens for the year. You can just come to chat. :) Then join us for our
OPENING MASS
Wednesday, September 7th
6:30 p.m.
at St. John's
Fr. Sughroue will celebrate Mass just for GodTeens (if you'd like to help out with serving, reading, taking up offertory, or singing, please tell your GodParents!), then we'll enjoy some ice cream, play some games, & maybe even hear from our World Youth Day pilgrims about their experience. Your parents are welcome to stay for Mass & to meet your GodParents as well over some ice cream.
Please, bring your completed registration form (requires a parent signature, so don't wait too long) & $25 fee for the year along with you. We will collect them after Mass.
